Associate Architects
Harry Kurzhals (Scherzingen-CH, 1968) was educated in Switzerland and worked three years at Mecanoo before joining Erick van Egeraat when he started his own practice in 1995. He has contributed to numerous projects, ranging from university buildings to office and housing developments. Becoming an architect associate in 2000, he is involved in Dutch, German, Danish and Hungarian projects as well as in the local management. He has a keen interest in the innovative use of materials, sustainability, detailing and engineering.
Roemer Pierik (Weesp-NL, 1970) graduated from the Technical University of Delft and Columbia University in New York. Before joining Erick van Egeraat in 2005, he worked for several Dutch and American architectural practices, among which HOK Architects in Washington DC. In January 2007 Roemer became architect associate. As such, he is involved in several projects in the Netherlands, France and Russia, as well as in the general management of the office.
Zita Balajti (Karcag-HU, 1972.) educated in Hungary, worked with Kiss és Járomi Építésziroda Kft., Globex Tervezo Rt and Vegyépszer before joining Erick van Egeraats’ Budapest office in 2000. Since then, she has contributed to a variety of complex projects throughout all stages from design to execution, including the new ING Head Offices in Budapest, Hungary and the Kempinski Hotel Riverpark in Bratislava, Slovak Republic. With her elaborate sense for concepts and design quality, she successfully strives for excellence in design and has recently proven this ability in various projects throughout Russia. She currently works on the Budapest City Hall project. Zita is one of the key advisors on design aesthetics and quality at Designed by Erick van Egeraat, she was appointed associate architect in 2008.
